Nov. 6 Health Summit Focuses On Communicable Diseases

Nationally recognized presenters will provide information on communicable disease treatment and prevention measures to an audience of health care professionals at the 2009 Health Summit. The Summit is a joint effort of Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) and the Medical Society of Delaware (MSD) and is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 6 at Clayton Hall, University of Delaware.

Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) and the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) completed their second day of H1N1 school vaccination program Nov. 3, by administering H1N1 flu nasal spray vaccine to 1,531 Delaware elementary public school students with parental permission.

Delaware Tax Amnesty Exceeds Goal; Generates $22 Million

The two-month long partnership between the Delaware Division of Revenue and the General Revenue Corporation, a subsidiary of Sallie MÆe Corporation, is expected to clear more than 14,000 delinquent accounts. When the program was authorized this summer, estimates called for $10 million to be collected.

Key Land Agreements Expected to Lay Groundwork For Economic Development, Ecological Restoration and Additional State Parkland at Auburn Heights Preserve

A series of agreements to preserve and redevelop 99 acres of land near the Auburn Heights Preserve in northern Delaware is expected to boost economic development and ecological restoration in the scenic area, and add to state parkland at the preserve located in the Red Clay Valley near the Pennsylvania state line.
Results Speed Campaign Over 6-Thousand Citations Issued

Dover - Officers participating in a four month long statewide effort to 'Stop Speeding Before it Stops You', have issued a total of 6,322 citations for speeding violations. For the second year in a row, this important highway safety campaign was focused on stopping speeding drivers and reducing speed related crashes in the state. Currently speed is listed as a contributing factor in 18% of the state's 83 fatal crashes which have occurred since January 1st. When the campaign began on July 6th, speed was a factor in 30% of the state's fatal crashes...
Pre-season lottery applications for turkey hunting on state land due by Dec. 18

The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife wants to remind hunters that lottery applications for six-day turkey hunts on state wildlife areas next spring must be received in the Division's Dover office no later than Friday, Dec. 18. Applications will be drawn at random to allow hunters to participate in one of three six-day hunts on state lands during turkey season in April 2010.
